Bike Ride: The Last of the Melbourne Blogs

Hurray for Meredith posting her photos in a timely fashion :)

So originally many of us were going to "hire" bikes together and tour the city on them. But it ended up being me and the boys; Jake, Steve, Andrew, Ankur, Mike and Matt. We tried to follow the river but then the path veered off the river and we ended up in some suburban neighborhood where half the houses looked about like home, middle class or upper middle class houses, and the other half was completely Beverly Hills style. And then when we came out of the neighborhood we were at the on ramp to the freeway and some railroad tracks. Needless to say we avoided the freeway (scariest thing I can imagine: riding a bike down an Australian freeway). Eventually we relocated the river but of course we went the wrong way down it, b/c anything else would have made the day far too easy. Once we could spot downtown Melbourne we just rode towards the buildings and it was when we got back into the city that we basically ran over Meredith and she took some action shots for us. Three hours of biking later, my legs were killing me and the guy at the bike shop wanted the bikes back. No problem man, take them :) Great time, really fun way to explore the city and get outside for the afternoon. I don't think Houston would be bike-friendly but I'd really like to see Austin and/or Boston via bike.
Cheers!!
